He nods, though, going to fetch another spray bottle.]

I'm just watering them. These ones over here--the ones on the other side don't need it yet.

Have you always been helping out up here?

[He nods, moving aside so that Kazu can help.]

Not as much as some people--but I like it. It reminds me of the countryside, and our citadel.

Would you mind telling me about it? Your citadel, I mean. I've heard more about your missions than anything, I think.

[aitou]

Mm. [A noise of agreement, although he thinks about it a little before he starts.] It's pretty big--there are a lot of us. It's in a quiet area with lots of space, not near any cities or anything. We have the stables for the horses, and the fields, where we grow our own food.

[dms]

ZenZen did mention once that there were a lot of you. It makes sense because there were a lot of swords in Japan, right? Of course you'd all have spirits, too.

...It sounds nice, though. Peaceful. [ ... ] When you're not on missions, I guess.

[aitou]

Yeah. Not every sword has a spirit, but there's probably lots of us still out there.

[Hundreds. Thousands. This game will never end.]

It can be. But it's pretty lively sometimes, too. We had a matsuri competition once, when a lot of us were there at the same time. It was a lot of fun.

[dms]

Sounds kind of like the dorm back home, but maybe a little less chaotic. I

A matsuri competition, huh? Did you and Kiyopi win?

[aitou]

Kiyomitsu was away then--but nobody won, really. It was a tie, but I don't think we cared that much, since we were caught up in how much fun we were having.

That's how it should be, though - especially for a matsuri. You're all supposed to just have fun together.

...Kind of makes me miss doing that stuff.

[aitou]

Yeah. I was kind of hoping we'd get to do something like it again soon.

[And then he got kidnapped BY THIS PLACE.]

Then you totes should when you get back! And maybe some of us will even be able to join you guys this time.

[aitou]

Really? [He looks surprised, but not unhappily so.] You think so?

[dms]

Yeah, why not? It could be totally fun! Besides, I'd hate to not be able to see anyone after we leave the prism.

[aitou]

I'd like that! [Is it allowed by the time government??? Probably not but you know what who cares. Let them fuck shit up.] You know, in the beginning, I didn't think this was a bad place... if we could've gone home and come back freely, I think plenty of us would've liked to visit here.

Right? The idea of the prism is so cool - I really love it! Just... being stuck here forever with the risk of refracting and stuff isn't so great.

Maybe that's why Kazumin was saying we have to fix it, though.

[aitou]

Yeah. I'd like to fix it for the residents, too--if they really decide they want to stay, after they get all their memories back.

[dms]

Mm, same here. They can do what they want, once the place is fixed up, but you can't exactly make an informed decision if you don't remember things.

I do hope whatever they remember won't be too bad, though. That would just make it harder for them.
