Yes, transformed. Like it happened to Ryunosuke. He returned from a dangerous location, transformed into a motorized vehicle. That's why I thought perhaps something similar had happened to you.
[The confusion said it all: Yasusada was never transformed into a cake, instead they arrived with the cake, he understands now.
But despite having understood that, he dropped the tidbit of Ryunosuke having transformed into a truck because oh boy, that's such a crazy sounding thing, haha -- crazy enough he adds:]
Perhaps he is one. We know almost nothing about each other -- others could be hiding secrets such as being a yokai.
[...he's not trying to spread misinformation, really, but as he sees it, given that there are three swords here and also November himself is hiding very important information about himself, he doesn't see as too unlikely Ryunosuke maybe was a tsukumogami all along and he didn't tell anyone]
well before that we were regular tsukumogami but humans havent used swords in a long time and there arent many of them left anymore anway i wasnt n a museum or a family terssure or anything so i was alone for a long time
[So there wasn't a lot for him to do, besides... exist.]
i still dont really know how much we should say were usually not supposed to tell people what we are or talk about the future but i think even if there were humans left to wield us properly its better that we go back and fight the retrograde army instead of them sometimes its really hard for us to protect history but i think... it might be even harder for humans
[Also canon never really explains what happened to get to the point of using swordboys anyway lmfkjhgkh]
[Something about saying they were created to serve humans, just like that, feels off to November, just like the opposite also felt off -- when a fellow Contractor once asked him why he served humans when he was above them, what with all of his powers and what not. Still, the swords know how things are supposed to go.
If they say this is how it should be, then alright]
Were you in the middle of doing that before you appeared here in the Prism?
[November nods. Some would say he should find a bit alarming the people he finds most relatable are the swords, but he doesn't mind. Perhaps that's why later he'd open up a little to Kashuu, telling stuff about himself he thinks a sword would understand]
If it's not too long of a story, can you tell me about this Retrogade Army you're fighting?
sure but i dont know how much there is to say they think changing history is the right thing to do but it isnt so we have to stop them if we dont it gets really bad

Sometimes it's easy to forget I'm speaking to a sword instead of a human.

sometimes its still weird for me too
weve only had these bodies for a few years

[Simply staying in that sword and watching things happen? Could you even watch things while you were a sword?

How did everything change? Did everyone begin using swords often again?

no
[He pauses, looking contemplative.]

So you and the other two are fighting in a war on humanity's behalf?
no subject
yeah
i guess thats what it is
we were made to serve humans from the beginning anyway so its just natural
for us to do this

[That's bound to ruin the present so badly, really]

[That's an easy, simple answer. There sure are!!!]

[Mostly because it's too risky, and the changes are unpredictable. The cost-benefit assessment is all wrong, in his opinion]
