...Maybe.

[ maybe it isn't a good time for it, but he's angry and stressed and afraid and it starting to feel like it's all going to explode out of him if he doesn't do something about it. it's too familiar. ]

I just need a way to deal with it. I don't want to end up hurting someone again.

[ a grateful smile, then. ]

Thanks, Yams. Promise I won't push it too far.

[ but he will open with a direct stabbing movement, with little care for how sloppy it might be. he's got no patience for that right now. ]

[ he tries to sidestep and counter, but he is a moment too slow, so the tip of the sword catches his shoulder and throwing him off balance. even while training with the swords, kazu's always used the sword more defensively than anything. attacking directly feels... uncomfortable.

but that's not a bad thing. it means he hasn't lost sight of himself yet, or fallen back into what he felt that night, where attacking 9S felt like the right to do. so once he's recovered, he uses both hands to swing the sword up in a wide slash, leaving himself open instead of covering his weak spots. ]

[ the strike lands, of course. kazunari sees it coming, but he's not fast enough to dodge, and he doesn't really try, anyway. he wheezes for a second to try to catch his breath, but then he gives yams a small smile and swings the sword in a horizontal slash. there's not as much frantic energy behind this one, something more like a familiar routine. ]
