[The rest of the game: I bet anmitsu have kissed already Anmitsu: this]
Eh--no, it's not a piggy. [WELL at least he'll finally twist around and pull his hakama back up... stupid] I wonder if anyone else can see it? Maybe I should show Steel-san...
[yeah he can't stand to see that butt let it begone from his sight]
Don't just go around showing people your butt... [But now that he's SIMMERED DOWN A LITTLE:] What're you seeing on it? And what d'you mean, you weren't sure you could tell me?
[TELL HIM THAT HIS BUTT WAS MARKED FOR THE PIG HARVEST...]
[SHOVES KASHUU BACK and turns away, crossing his arms like a sulky baby
--but he caves in because despite how fucking stupidly this started, he does have something to say.]
It's from last week. I got it the day after what happened with Damien and Riff.
[The SHENANIGANS... but more importantly:]
I didn't fall asleep that night, when Kazuma killed Ryunosuke. I was going to tell you sooner, but after what happened... [He didn't want to add to Kashuu's stress, even though he's the one who'd vanished and been attacked that very same day. Plus--] I thought maybe it would go away after Kazuma's execution. But if it's still there, and you got that stuff earlier...
[Then it's looking more and more likely that they'll need to be prepared for the worst again.]
[Oh. WELL. Any amount of over-the-top hammy agitation he'd felt at suddenly being FLASHED immediately drops away, and his brow is furrowing, instead. The hand at Yasusada's shoulder shifts a little - just a small, reflexive movement, symptomatic of his immediate worry. Kashuu stresses about everything okay one more stress to the pile is NOTHING.]
Wait - seriously? You didn't? Did you just fall asleep on your own later? [WHAT DOES THAT MEAN. WHY DOES HE HAVE A MYSTERY BOOTY STAMP ABOUT IT.] ...So you think it's gonna happen to you again this week? What the hell is going on...
[Between the tattoos and dreams and weird shit appearing in his mailbox and now this, he feels very much like he has no clue what's happening here! Like a tiny little grain of rice in a big ol' sea.]
[Now that the DUMBASS ENERGY has faded away Yasusada shifts, covering Kashuu's hand with his own.]
Yeah. I went scouting, but I came back when I started getting fatigued. It was really dark--I didn't see either of them. Kazuma or Ryunosuke. [He squeezes Kashuu's hand, gently.] Don't worry, I was careful.
[He'd been injured and unarmed, after all--for all that he can be reckless, he knows not to take too many unnecessary risks.
But... yeah. He sighs.]
I guess it might not happen. But I think it's better to assume that it will. [For the reasons he'd mentioned--his tattoo, and Kashuu's item.] I wish you and Buzen could come too, but I don't know how I'd wake you up. And I wasn't even really supposed to tell anyone, since it might put them in danger... but I at least didn't want to keep a secret from you.
[Maybe, if it had been before their mission to the Bakumatsu period, he would've been more willing to do so--but not now.]
[He'd rather be put in danger than left in the dark, anyway - and he knows the same would go for Yasusada. There's a little flicker of the quiet gratitude that he won't speak in straightforward words in his expression, as his hand gently squeezes Yasusada's shoulder before it falls away and shifts to hold his hand instead.]
...Good. [That he was careful, first and foremost. Kashuu doesn't like this, and he isn't happy about it, but he trusts Yasusada to do what needs to be done and to stay safe (relatively) while doing it.]
I wonder why it's like that for you, though... But - maybe you'll have the chance to stop anything if you see it happening this time. [Maybe no one else will have to die - it'd be nice if he could believe it.] ...If it happens again, you better be even more careful. You have to promise me.
[HANDHOLDING... Yasusada leans against him, too, because they don't even need touch week to be Like This.]
I'm not sure. But that's part of why I wondered if something besides the prism is involved... it seems really weird, if all of what's happening comes from the same source.
[Though, as they've discussed, it might not necessarily have anything to do with logical sense--maybe the prism is simultaneously making people crazy, and also urging them to solve or prevent more murders. He has no idea.
He smiles a little, though, and doesn't point out that he probably couldn't be careful and stop a murder. Not with the way things are right now.]
Of course, I promise. [...] I won't break when you're not there.
[He'd love to simply say I won't break, but--they know better than that. And that's not how he is, anyway.
"What are you gonna do if you break?" "I'm prepared for that."
Things are different here, though. Risk means something very different in this place.]
[The amount of people he's dealing with where touch week hasn't actually changed anything about how he interacts with them and vice versa is absolutely hilarious but nowhere is it more true than with Yasusada.]
Mm, yeah. I agree - I don't think it's all coming from the prism. I kinda wouldn't be surprised if most of it wasn't, really.
[He wants to believe that the prism is like them - not malicious, but still capable of being used as a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands.
The rest of that... Well. It's about all he can ask for, right? Even if it strikes a bitter and fearful chord in him. He wouldn't have asked Yasusada to be careful if he had no faith at all that it was possible, but he's no fool. He's aware of the risks they all face, and now, aware of the risks that Yasusada also faces, potentially on his own.
He gives the hand he's holding a squeeze, and smiles in the way he does when he has nothing else he can do with his expression.]
[It's frustrating, that their ways of gathering information are so limited. Even with this new responsibility, there are only so many places they can go at a time. It's frustrating.
But even though he understands Kashuu's concerns, even though he knows he'd be just as worried if their roles were reversed--he can't help but feel a little grateful for the opportunity to do something. For the chance to protect Kashuu, and Buzen, if he can figure out how to ensure that.
Always, he'd rather fight side-by-side. But if he can't do that, then this is the next best thing.]
We'll see what happens tomorrow. For now, I'm not sure it's safe to tell Buzen--but if there's another death, I'll see if I can find a way.
[But Buzen doesn't seem like he'd be particularly upset if he were to find out after the mission, he thinks, so he's leaning towards keeping him safer and in the dark for now. He doesn't like it, but he doesn't like endangering Kashuu, either--it's just that Kashuu is his exception to every rule.]
[He's only swallowing the less pleasant things that sit at the tip of his tongue because he knows Yasusada's already been through too much because of him since they got here, or he'd be much less agreeable about this separation and the burden that they can't halve.
As things are, though... Well. Life isn't always fair, is it? As loathe as he is to leave this up to Yasusada alone, what choice does he have? Frustrating - endlessly frustrating.]
...Alright. Don't do anything too risky though, okay? [And then, voicing what Yasusada already thinks:] I don't think he'd really care, not knowing. It'd be better if he stays safe for now.
[But he's not going to discourage Yasusada from telling him eventually if he so chooses, of course. After all, he already considers Buzen a trusted comrade and knows that, as a sword, he would also choose danger over helplessness. Who among them wouldn't?
After a second, though, he takes a step forward and just... plunks his head down on Yasusada's shoulder.]
[Coming back to this thread after the chaos of curfew is so much
But Yasusada shifts automatically to accommodate him, lifting his arms to wrap them around Kashuu and settling one hand in his hair. He smiles, apologetic, even though Kashuu can't see it.]
I didn't do it on purpose this time. [Unlike LAST TIME... arguably this is worse, because it takes so much of the control out of their hands, but he really doesn't want to think too much about that right now.
Though, that being said--] ...You'll tell me if I start acting strange, right?
[He doesn't know if Kazuma or Ryunosuke had marks, but he can't help worrying about his own. Far more than anything he might run into during the night, he doesn't want to lose his memories, or his sense of self--he'd rather Kashuu break him long before that.]
[Which is, in fact, arguably worse! But it's fine, it's fine. It's fine because it has to be fine. He folds Yasusada into his arms in turn, sighing into the crook of his neck.
As for his request, he answers without pause.]
Of course I will.
[His concerns are similar, and also different. He's afraid of what this place might take, but he's equally afraid of the things it might give that don't - shouldn't - belong to those they give them to. He's the type of sword that will always do what he needs to do, even if it's painful. He would never leave Yasusada to lose himself, either. Not in any way.]

--Eh? [FINALLY TWISTING AROUND TO LOOK he's still on the floor just doing an awkward twisted Snake yoga pose] You don't see it?
