The prism’s definitely involved, it sounds like. But the how and why are still fuzzy. But it sounds like it’s not exactly implanting impossible patterns of behaviour in people.
From the way Riff described it it's like... pulling up parts of yourself you don't acknowledge or indulge? Like something you have the capability of doing but chose not to.

Although don't quote me on that exactly. It didn't sound like the prism forced them, so much as coaxed, maybe.
[ fluffs his lil pompom. baby. baby boy. stabby. ]
Don’t know. Gives you less of an excuse, if that’s the sort of thing you worry about? But we all have parts of ourselves that aren’t exactly socially friendly.
[He is doing his best... and also doesn't have a ton of experience with this despite his time as a "human", because even then he was surrounded by people exactly like him.]
Mm. Whatever it is that counts as its “brain” is probably wired differently — really differently. Like, right or wrong as people see it might be entirely different things when the Prism’s making sense of it.
Mm... I think it's kind of like us that way. [Some things exist simply to be what they are, after all. Weapons, oceans, sicknesses. They can't help not being human.] We have to learn how to handle it.

Worry? About what?

What people think of you? Or what your actions might cost other people? That sort of thing.

Like if they'd actually killed each other.

From what it sounds like, it’s toying on the parts of you that could do that kind of thing. Whether you would or not normally.

I was wondering why the prism would want to do that, but... after I said that, I realized it probably doesn't think like that.

[ ... ] I'd imagine the more human form you guys have makes it easier to interact with and see, or have things explained to you?
